Overview
I developed a cohesive suite of promotional materials for Grand Valley State University's annual ExtravaGRANDza and Lakerpalooza events. These end-of-year celebrations offer students a chance to unwind and celebrate their accomplishments through stress-relief activities, interactive programs, food trucks, crafts, and more . To effectively promote these events, I created posters, vinyl banners, t-shirts, and digital assets that align with the vibrant and festive atmosphere of the celebrations. The designs is a collaboration between the GVSU Promotions Office and Office of Student Life, delivering high-quality materials that adhere to university branding standards.

Illustration and Design
For this design, I wanted to capture the energy of a Lollapalooza-style festival while keeping it connected to the spirit of Grand Valley State University. I centered the illustration around Louie, the GV mascot, striking the iconic Laker hand gesture, symbolizing school pride. From there, I allowed music and creativity to flow outwards, blending vibrant, dynamic elements that evoke the lively atmosphere of the event. The composition uses bold colors and flowing lines to represent the fun, energetic vibe of the celebration, while maintaining a balance between modern design and the essence of GV’s identity.
A Fresh Look for Years
The final result was a vibrant, eye-catching design that perfectly captured the spirit of the event. The poster, t-shirt, and event materials all came together to create a cohesive and exciting visual identity for ExtravaGRANDza and Lakerpalooza. Attendees responded enthusiastically to the design, with many noting how it reflected the high-energy vibe of the celebrations. The Campus Activities Board was so impressed with the final product that they decided to keep the design for future events, ensuring it remains a signature look for many years to come.
